Tips From the Tastemakers: Calligraphy & Invitation Etiquette

From invitations to wedding stationery, the art of hand-penned calligraphy has long been a staple in southern weddings. Charleston-based expert event planner Tara Guérard of Tara Guérard Soirée sits down with local calligrapher Paige Palmer at the historic William Aiken House in her latest YouTube episode. One of Tara’s favorite wedding details at her weddings–calligraphy. She shares some her insider tips on how to layer the beautiful script into all facets of the Big Day and the etiquette of how to properly stuff a wedding invitation.

We also caught up with Tara and she shared her three top tips for sending out invitations to wedding guests.

1. PAPER LINERS:

Do not include the tissue paper liner in your invitations, that is not needed, it was included at one point to prevent ink from blotting.

2. PERSONAL TOUCH

If possible, take your invitations to the post office and hand cancel them. This prevents them from being run thru the machine that can sometimes damage the envelopes.

3. POSTAGE

Don’t forget to provide postage on the RSVP envelope for your guests.
